Dan Ruppel
“Maybe that’s too long...
I’ve read about a lot of very old sea pageants, and I think we can do better - for the people who come, for the people who perform, and most of all, for the ocean.”
Dan is a scholar and an amateur acrobat. Dan's group rehearsed on Brown's campus lawns, and was made up of some real movers and shakers across Providence's arts scene.
“In the days when people sailed across the oceans, they made pageants where the sea performed for them, as if for just a precious hour, they could control it’s powers; now that we travel like the wind above the clouds, we need performances that remind us the sea, protector of carbon and conveyor of consumerism, is still a great power, in need of our care, as we need of its protection.”
